The experimental electronica-rock band Son Lux return with their fifth album in total but first for City Slang and follow-up to 2015's Bones. The band was originally the solo project of Ryan Lott an American post-rock/alternative hip hop musician born in Denver Colorado and based in New York City before officially becoming a band with Bones in 2015 introducing members Ian Chang and Rafiq Bhatia. Brighter Wounds finds the trio in command of a daring multi-directional sound expressing naturally the proclivity for surprise and contrast that characterises the project's output. Anchored by its cinematic heart 'All Directions' the album ranges from the thunderous charge of 'Dream State' to the sputtering soulful lilt of 'Slowly'. Son Lux has made invention its hallmark through continued exploration and experimentation but they seem to have hit the sweet spot with Brighter Wounds.
