The debut album from these young South London punks via Dead Oceans. Form when the members were still in school Shame built the band up from a foundation of DIY ethos while citing The Fall and Wire among its biggest musical influences. Utilising both the grit and sincerity of that musical background Shame carved out a niche in the South London music scene and then barrelled fearlessly into the angular thrashing post-punk that would go on to make up Songs of Praise. Full of youthful angst and a relentless energy these young lads breath life back into the British guitar scene that has been missing for some time. Musically rooted in 80s British post-punk and indie-rock but very much lyrically focused on contemporary British life.
