The much anticipated follow-up album from Rhye the soul-pop group and brainchild of Michael Milosh who's debut 2012 LP Woman gained huge critical acclaim. A lot has changed in the 6 years or so since Woman with the former producer and member of the original duo dynamic of the band Robin Hannibal leaving around the time of the release replaced by a full-band line up of musicians who have previously worked for the likes of Kelis Jhené Aiko and David Byrne. As well as the changes within the group during the time since Milosh also broke up with his wife to whom Woman was dedicated to and now has a new love who appears on the cover. Taking all of this into account Blood is about the aftermath of love which pairs a sultry subtle funky brand of soul music with the warm powerful and totally unique vocals and lyrics of Milosh. Regardless of all the turmoil this is still distinctively Rhye with it's muted slow-burning disco rhythms hushed musicianship and Milosh's Sade-esque whispered breathy voice.
