After the beat-led excursions of his debut album Yawn Zen, Mndsgn put together a set of fully realised songs influenced by the likes of early Solar records material, Leon Sylvers III, Kashif, and Dave Grusin – artists that Mndsgn says “really embodied that potent feeling in the early 80s boogie/funk/soul/jazz/fusion wave.” At the time of its release, Mndsgn described Body Wash as “a soul record that plays with nostalgic elements in a very dynamic and positive way.
