James Murphy and co are back from their (thankfully) brief break-up to prove why we missed them so much. American Dream is the follow-up to 2010's This Is Happening and it still has their signature sound of post-punked dance-rock in which Murphy wears his influences of Talking Heads David Bowie and New Order well and truly on his sleeve. But with the reform of the group has come a re-imagination of what they're about and you get the sense of freedom and freshness in Murphy's outward and forward-thinking approach.
