We've finally got our hands on one of our favourite records of 2017 so far - the wonderful 2nd LP from the American folk artist Julie Byrne. Not Even Happiness showcases Byrne's incredible voice and her exquisite guitar playing of unusual guitar tunings and fingerpicked melodies. There is something timeless and melancholic in her music which harks back to the work of Joni Mitchell Vashti Bunyan Cat Power and Leonard Cohen but has enough modern spin to make her brand of folk unique.
