It's been some wait but Japandroids 3rd LP is now here nearly 5 years since their last Celebration Rock which is easily one of the best rock records of recent times. And if that record was the culmination of something the band had been striving for since their incarnation then Near To The Wild Heart Of Life is the start of something new for the Canadian duo. In the time between records Brian King and David Prowse have grown-up matured and their outlooks have changed - all of which has been reflected in the sound of this new record. This is still unmistakably Japandroids with plenty of shout-along guitar bangers but their sound has expanded to include acoustic guitars and even synths. This is the start of something new!
