The Detroit band's debut LP via the excellent Salinas Records is a beautifully nostalgic and sunny folk-rock record putting a modern lo-fi twist of 70s influences. The four-piece's background is in the Detroit punk scene with members having played in bands like Tyvek Growing Pains and PRC. But the band's punk approach didn't work for these songs so they opted for a slower quieter style to brilliant effect. Bonny Doon sound like the meeting point between Kurt Vile and Real Estate by way of Parquet Courts but held in the 70s - and if that doesn't get you excited then God help you!
