Alex Cameron is the sleaze-bag alter-ego character portrayed by the 'actual' Alex Cameron - an Australian musician formally of the Sydney electro three-piece Seekae. For Cameron's first record 2014's Jumping The Shark he wore face make-up to create scars and wrinkles on his face (as seen on the front cover of the album) but for Forced Witness the make-ups gone - even if the slick-hair and 80s get-up remains. The record produced by Cameron and Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado juxtaposes classic 80s cheesy synth-pop with lyrics from the point of view of a macho creep from a bygone era. Once you understand the underlying satire of the artist and you're hooked on the undeniably catchy melodies you'll be humming along (whilst also checking if he did just sing what you think he did). The album highlight is the duet with Angel Olsen on the track 'Stranger's Kiss' but there are so many great moments on this seriously intriguing piece of work. A guiltlessly guilty pleasure!
