Dan Bejar aka Destroyer follows up 2015's brilliant album Poison Season with his 12th studio album enigmatically called ken. The name for the record comes from Bejar's discovery that original name for the Suede track 'The Wild Ones' which he deems "one of the great English-language ballads of the last 100 years or so" was in fact 'ken'. This formed the basic of Bejar's latest album and although not influenced by Suede was heavily influenced by the last few years of Thatcher-era and the music of that time. The album was recorded in its entirety in the jam space / studio space that the group calls The Balloon Factory. However unlike Poison Season ken was not recorded as a “band” record although everyone in the band does make an appearance. The record certainly has the feel of the music coming out of Britain in the late 80's with it's jangle-guitars lo-fi drum machines and moody synth sounds complete with Brit-pop-esque vocals. This is just another example of Bejar's supreme talent and what he can achieve with his Destroyer moniker.
