"The musical concept for ‘Are You Listening?’ was ignited in Berlin in the summer of 2023, with the writing of the track ‘No One’s Listening’, before bringing the rest of the album together in Autumn 2023 alone in a Norwich studio. ‘Are You Listening? ’ is composed of newly written songs for the album and some older songs from 2018 & 2019. The album is about people not truly listening, whether on a personal level in a conversation or on a wider, societal level. It’s not here to serve as an instruction to listen, which would go against the point of this album entirely - rather, simply to ask the question, are you listening? ‘Are You Listening?’ is Sam Eagle’s debut album and is the product of his experience in songwriting taking from his already deep back catalgoue. Sonically, there is simplicity at the heart of this album, with Sam’s incredibly direct vocal & lyricism, set to his deeply musical playing of the nylon string guitar, and a real groove from programmed beats. ‘Are You Listening?’ was produced and recorded by Sam Eagle. There are additional vocals from friends Kitty Perrin, Afiya Lucombe-David, and Ini Chancellor. The album was mixed by frequent mixer Tony Burrata at Camden Gardens Studios, and mastered by Neil Pickles at Reveal Sound."
