"DETAILS, DRAWINGS, DISTANCE & DEPARTURE (Dipterid Records/Wrong Speed Records) marks the debut U.S. release of the two sold-out 2022 albums by All Structures Align. ASA sees a reunion of the creative partnership of the Ineson brothers (ex-Nub-90’s UK post-rock heroes). Their first recorded output, ‘Details And Drawings,’ was initially released as a limited edition LP on Wrong Speed Records (UK). The album has that same almost-casual, charmingly austere air of the Kadane brothers' (The New Year) and a welcoming quirkiness that can only come from years of musical discipline, which feels patient and suited for these times. Songs unwind at their own pace, unhurried by the need to get to a chorus yet still containing that knack for a magical, unexpected hook that elevated Nub above their peers so many years before. Played and recorded entirely by the Inesons amidst quarantine, ‘Details And Drawings’ feel like something created purely from the joy of reignited collaboration and re-establishing a forgotten language. Six months later, ASA released their second album, ‘Distance and Departure’ with Wrong Speed Records once more. Sharper and edgier, perhaps even more unpredictable than its predecessor, the brothers explored all melodic avenues, brushing away the genre police with a swat of their hands. For this one, they recruited drummer extraordinaire Neil Turpin (Bilge Pump, Objections, Polaris, etc.) to help make the arrangements flex and pulse with force — each song, consisting of approximately six minutes, evolving before your very ears in such a way that you have to drop the needle back, again and again, to make sure you weren’t mistaken. How did we get here? Which path did we take? The melodies and arrangements are embedded with each listen, and the picture sharpens into focus. These are not albums you’ll play once and file away. Housed in beautiful redesigned sleeves and jacket, based on the original LP artwork by David Hand, Dipterid Records combined both albums as a 2xLP limited to 300 copies""
