2017 RE-ISSUE ON LIMITED EDITION OPAQUE LIGHT BLUE MARBLE VINYL
Release Date: 22nd September 2017
Vinyl re-issue of this classic debut pressed on coloured vinyl for the first time! The Sea and Cake are an indie-rock band with wide ranging influences from jazz slowcore post-rock and even Brazilian and African music. They formed in the early 1990s in Chicago and consist of members from the likes of Tortoise Shrimp Boat The Cocktails and Bastro. The band sit somewhere between their fellow 90s indie-rockers such as Pavement Yo La Tengo The American Analog Set and even Bedhead; yet they offer something different to them all whilst vocalist Sam Prekop comes across like the meeting point of Stephen Malkmus of Pavement and Black Francis of the Pixies. Their self-titled 1994 debut offers a mix of jazzy rhythms and laid-back grooves perfect for slow days. The record is the bands most immediate and straight forward and is the better entry record to their great cult band!
