The second volume vinyl release of the soundtrack to the 1980's-based sci-fi horror TV epic that is Stranger Things sees the mood turn darker still as we are fed into the belly of the beast. Death and decay surrounds you as the series reaches it's climatic conclusion but there is still some sweeter more gentle moments to get you there. S U R V I V E's Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein conjure up an incredible mix of retro 80s sounds that have reference points from the sci-fi and horror soundtracks of the 80s from the likes of Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks) John Carpenter (HalloweenThe Thing) Vangelis (Blade Runner) and Tangerine Dream; to 80s inspired modern composers like Cliff Martinez (Drive); to even the more ambient works of Aphex Twin. Pillowy synths visceral and rich textures that move from dreamy soundscapes to terror-ridden nightmares.
