It's a departure from other Richmond Fontaine records and is large just Vlautin and an acoustic guitar with some sparse arrangements for company. The record is centred on stories of the types of people who live in the shadows of a casino town; those that are in a bad way or have fallen on hard times. It's stark and sad but as is always the case with Vlautin and Fontaine in general there is a lot of beauty in it.
